Heather Logan
Third Mate & Scientific Coordinator
Ireland

Heather Logan was born on November 10, 1976 in Magherafelt, Northern Ireland. She went to the University of Ulster at Coleraine and studied Environmental Sciences. She was awarded the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award in Outdoor Leadership and Training in 1995 and won a Scholarship from the Business Education Initiative to study business in the United States for one year at Greensboro College in North Carolina. During that time, she also worked in Alaska for a month at the Collaborative Learning Service Program.

Heather joined the RV Heraclitus for eighteen months in 2000 to 2001. During this time she was the Third Mate, Scientific Coordinator and Medical Officer. In Fall 2002, she joined Dr. Phil Dustan’s lab in Charleston, South Carolina where she analyzed the coral reef health and vitality data collected by the crew on board RV Heraclitus from 1995 to 2002 and helped post this on line.

Heather returned to RV Heraclitus for the the North Pacific Crossing and continued back across the South Pacific as the Assistant Scientific Coordinator.

She is currently the Third Mate and Manager of PCRF's Student Program at Sea on board the SV Infinity.
